"In 1985, my husband, Arthur, and I were going to call our eleven acres of forest in Jonesboro, Maine "The Lough" due to its location on a bay at the mouth of the Chandler River about a half mile from the ocean. But, as we worked to clear the land, a friend who helped us, Jon Watts, said "you have a budworm farm" and the name stuck. Budworm Farm was born and stands today because of townspeople like Jon, Mark Alley, Al Caruso, Ginny Fieldman, the Snowdeal Family and Mary & Eddie Stubbs. Arthur and I met in New York City. He was an actor and I was a picture editor for Time, Incorporated. He told me, "I was a farrier in California," after we spoke about our love of horses. But our equine passions slept until we moved to Maine and bought an unbroken Arab cross. We called him "Brumbie" after the horses made famous in "The Man from Snowy River" film.
