Publisher's Synopsis

This is a story how one boy faces life challenges with quiet determination and bravery and can inspire other children who find themselves in a similar situation to do the same. John's parents, teachers and friends are often upset with him because he is always blinking, coughing and twitching at the wrong time. None of them believe him when he tells them that he is unable to control these things. Then his mother takes him to the doctor and he is diagnosed as having Tourette syndrome which explains his uncontrollable actions. This knowledge leads to a greater understanding on the part of his family and John himself as he is taught some strategies for minimizing his spontaneous tics. Encouraged to share the information about his sickness with his classmates, they too now respond to him more positively. All this makes John more determined than ever not to let anything stop him from doing the things he wants and from becoming the person he was meant to be.
