Publisher's Synopsis
From a young age, Ruth had always been difficult and never satisfied with what she had. As soon as she got her way she would move onto the next thing in her long line of requirements. Nothing changed when she grew up, apart from the value of the things she demanded. Her background was working class and finances had always been an issue, so her goal was to net herself a rich man. Beautiful as she was, it did not take long for her to achieve this, but as usual it just wasn't enough. By the time she divorced, her husband, he had lost his home, and most of his money, while she continued to live a wealthy and pampered lifestyle. She could have almost been forgiven, if she had let it end there, but her avaricious nature was still very much in evidence, despite the luxury surrounding her. As rich as she was, she saw nothing wrong with targeting another wealthy older man and relieving him of his assets. It was only after her second divorce that she realised that she was lonely, and she thought a rich young man might make a nice change. She didn't think herself capable of falling in love, and when she did, and the sentiment wasn't returned, she began to suspect that she was being used in the same way that she had used others. Whilst he came from a good background, he didn't appear to have any accessible cash, but Ruth was happy to subsidise him, on the basis that they'd soon be married, and eventually his inheritance would be shared with her. When she realised that he had other ideas, she was furious, and not used to being thwarted, she did everything in her power to win him over to the idea of marrying her. This took her into uncharted territory, where she was the vulnerable one, but she never believed for one minute that she wouldn't eventually get her way. When it became apparent that there was a rival for his affections, she pulled out all the stops, using every dirty trick at her disposal. All she had to do was convince him of her loving and generous nature, but that wasn't going to be easy now he had seen the other side of her. The position she found herself in could easily have changed her for the better, but when she is presented with yet another chance to give instead of taking, she would have to decide whether the could change the habits of a lifetime
