Publisher's Synopsis
"Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD." But how did Noah build the Ark? What was its design? These and many other questions have been asked for centuries by believers and scoffers alike. Here in Noah and the Ark the story is told using the latest scientific discoveries and theories. Here the reader not only meets the man, but sees the ship and learns some amazing details. The Bible tells us that God gave Noah a blueprint for building the Ark, but Noah knew nothing about shipbuilding. Certainly not the size of the Ark. Even so, Noah set about his task and went to his grandfather, Methuselah, a godly man of great wealth and wisdom. With his backing the construction began with the hiring of Hiram, a Master Builder of ships and buildings. Nothing close to the size of the Ark had ever been attempted before. But Hiram knew shipbuilding. When he looked at the blueprint, he applied his knowledge and experience so that he fully understood the blueprint. He set about building a ship longer, wider, and taller than anything that would be attempted in hundreds, perhaps thousands of years! Methuselah, at the Lord's command, kept secret from Noah about a tragedy that would befall the Ark. A tragedy that would test Noah and his family's faith. A tragedy that would lead Hiram to make changes in the Ark's construction that would provide additional safety and comfort. Meanwhile Noah had to endure hardship, tragedy, and derision of his neighbors as he built the Ark on dry land. Instead of faltering, he preached redemption and warned them of the coming Deluge. As if that was not enough, there arose an enemy who opposed him and would slay him if at all possible. An enemy who saw in him not only a fool, but a threat to her. Added to that a nephew, Jareb, who believed God had called him to establish another refuge in the mountains. A refuge within the mountain and capable of handling hundreds more than the Ark. It was a belief that divided the two men with fatal consequences. This is a story of faith, danger, and the provision of God. Through it all Noah remained faithful and the ship took shape. This is his story and the story of the Ark.
