Publisher's Synopsis

Edith Nesbit was a prolific British author best known for writing adventure stories for children. Nesbit was also a well known political activist who co-founded the Fabian Society. Nesbit's most famous works include Five Children and It, The Enchanted Castle, and The Railway Children. Five Children and It, published in 1902, is a novel that centers around a group of children who find a sand fairy. The fairy offers each of them a wish every day. The Phoenix and the Carpet, published in 1904, is a fantasy novel that centers around the adventures of the same five children. When the children's mother buys them a new carpet they find an egg in it which hatches into a talking Phoenix. The Story of the Amulet, published in 1906, is an adventure novel that picks up where The Phoenix and the Carpet ended. The children find "It" again, this time in a pet shop in Camden Town. More magical adventures follow.
