Publisher's Synopsis
In Code Name Halloween 38 we take a hard look at what is known as PSYOPS (Psychological Operations) or Black Propaganda. Thinking outside the box is a quality that Angelique Dawson has in great proportions and it is needed when you want to weaken your enemy from within. I wanted to know how far such operations are effective and thus dove into history to find the answers. This was an interesting book to write, the research that came out made me think hard on PSYOPS, a black art that few master. From my own service years, I knew the basics. I knew that we, as well as the enemy, were subjected to much indoctrination from the day we were born. I knew that we were fighting for a lost cause. Yet we kept on fighting without questioning too much because our Afrikaner psyche is one of self-discipline and respect of elders. We believed that we were right and the rest of the world was wrong. I wanted to understand how and if PSYOPS works. Enormous resources are allocated to PSYOP Operations by all nations every year. But is it worth it? Did it work in times of war? We try to answer these questions and our conclusions are interesting enough to be studied by Eastern Military Academies. The statistics we uncovered make for a thought-provoking read. Furthermore, I have illustrated how PSYOPS Operations are done in our world because it is not generally known in what ways spies are able to create havoc when using PSYOPS to the maximum. If you then combine your operational threats against the enemy with Special Forces backing you, you are able to make strong men cry and weak ones pass out at the mere thought of you planting the seeds of mistrust in their minds, sowing discontent. It is a thoroughly dirty campaign and not for the faint of heart. When successful, internal conflict and civil war are often the result and innocents may die. On the other hand, your own losses may be reduced and that is why it is taken seriously by the most successful Generals.Description: Spymaster extraordinaire, Angelique Dawson and her team are in western Mozambique using every known method of PSYOPS (Psychological Operations or Black Propaganda) and a few others she has created to destabilise Zimbabwe. Her objective is to stir up as much trouble as possible between Zimbabwe and China, the country's only major friend. To do so, she is flying covert missions into Zimbabwe with a specially equipped Aérospatiale Super Frelon helicopter, causing havoc wherever she can. It is a dangerous business, she is wanted in that country and if she, or any of her men, are captured, they will die a horribly prolonged death. The helicopter she flies looks like the ones flown by the Chinese Air Force, the Changhe Z-8, an exact copy and a common sight in Zimbabwe. In Code Name Mel's Choice, Angelique was ambushed whilst flying in air supplies for a dissident movement and barely escaped being shot down. That insult was not forgotten, she wants revenge and to send a harsh message. She is deliberately flying towards an ambush site, but she has an ace card, she is going to attack the ambushers with heavy mortars when they expect it the least. To do so, she needs to insert an entire Army Special Forces platoon with their heavy mortars and bombs, clandestinely, and then will have to extract them to safety again, granted, only if she survives the ambush. This is an intricate military operation fraught with risk and one she needs help with. Her ground commander and later husband, former Police Special Forces Company Commander, Geoffrey Foxtrot, is commanding and advising as best he can. Yet, she has her own ideas and is not listening. If you wish to read about Covert and Special Forces Operations in sub-Saharan Africa, the GMJ Books are the place to start.
