Marci Grimwood was born with the blood of a shapeshifter.
That wouldn't have been a problem if her father, the king of Grimwood, didn't utterly despise the species that killed his queen, and left him alone with an ill-fated daughter. Taking his vengeance to the only man who loved the queen more than he, he convinced him to cast an enchantment over Grimwood that would rid it of the unpredictable species that had once inhabited it.
