Publisher's Synopsis
Jean Guy DeSaguenay is Head Coach of the Marquette Ice Flow Professional Hockey Club, which plays in the Eastern Midwestern Professional Hockey League. The team stands an excellent chance of winning the League Championship and the Slurrystone Cup.
The new two referees and two linesmen system is under the direction of newly hired League Commissioner Paxton Clapperwell who brought unqualified referees to work at this level. He doesn't allow coaches to attack these incompetent officials and fines those who incur his displeasure. Romance enters DeSaguenay's life while undergoing Commissioner ordered mandatory anger management counseling for physically attacking those referees.
Clapperwell seems invincible to DeSaguenay in his epic power struggle with the Commissioner. Keeping the team focused on finishing the regular season and advancing through the playoffs is no easy chore. Stints in jail, indicted on charges of Federal Sports Bribery (game fixing/point shaving), and a racial discrimination suit, his anger management counseling slowly makes a positive impact. With team dissension, player injuries and worse, DeSaguenay pulls off a never seen before risky move in the playoffs that boggle the imagination and unveils two last surprises at season end.
