FIRST OFF, let's get a few things straight. I lost 120 lbs. in 20 months. This is how it happened. I am no doctor, guru, or dietician. I will stick to the plain, unblemished, and embarrassing truth. A struggle, I have won and lost, over the last thirty years. And rise to fight again. My weight. Before you do anything to change your ways, consult with a physician. Talk to them. They are on your side, if you are honest. Your doctor has heard, like a judge in traffic court, every excuse in the book for bad behavior. Don't think that you are cunning, and have a rational reason for gaining twenty-five pounds in six months. They have heard them all, including from me. Like a kindly father, or a priest in the confessional, they provide absolution, and send you off with the admonition "Do Not Sin Anymore." They do want you to do better. You are given the latest dietary pamphlet. 'Eat This, Not That, ' with the hope, that somehow, you will see the error of your ways. Hope springs eternal. We are human and subject to backsliding, no matter how good or noble our intentions are. This is my tale. No one else's. It is a true story, my story. I will attempt to tell it with wit and humor. This has nothing to do with religion, politics, global warming, the gold standard, creation science, diets, or anything else. I am not selling you anything (except my story), and oh yes, my other novels. Enough of the sales pitch. Come in. Do not be afraid. Make yourself comfortable, put your feet up. It is not too late.
