Publisher's Synopsis

This is the account of a summer journey of over four thousand kilometres by motorbike from Nice, on the Mediterranean coast of France, to the North Cape of Norway, Europe's most northern extremity, a headland surrounded by the Arctic Ocean. Equipped with a small tent, the author camped until he had crossed the Arctic Circle, using thereafter the wooden cabins that are to be found in the north of Scandinavia. The author has tried to convey the pleasures of this form of exploration and has given his thoughts to those who may wish to follow, whether on a motorbike or other form of transport, or from the comfort of their own home.
