Alastair McKnight and his Uncle George set off on a camping trip to the Green Slime Swamp to search for proof that the legendary Lizardman actually exists! Alastair brings his best friend and smuggles his pet dragon, Spike. To the boys horror, their dragon of a teacher Ms. Cassowary joins them along with her pesky relative. Alastair's next-door neighbor enemy soon turns up and so does a mystery--does the Lizardman really live in the Green Slime Swamp or will Spike, Alastair and the gang discover something even more sinister going on?
