Romans 7:6 says that we serve, not in the oldness of the letter (or by written rules) but in the "newness of the Spirit". This is the essence of the New Covenant in the Blood of Jesus - the Father and His family. Hebrews 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;This is the New Covenant that was foretold by the prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:33). How difficult it must have been at that time to understand how this could happen - God's law written on our hearts and in our minds. This is the "life in the Spirit" that was foretold and is now revealed.
