Publisher's Synopsis
Poetry, it has been said, is little more than the musings of the soul, a trickle of sub-consciousness, a vision of an inner existence as seen through a glass darkly or with cut crystal clarity. If so, then this book presumes to be but a soul's memoir, an unconscious biography, a re-vision of things past, filled with dim lucidity and blinding. This is not a book that can be a "quick read" for anyone. It is rich, you know, French desert rich, a cavalcade of romance, pivotal to his Muse, always returning to his self-deprecating way of describing his relationship with his Muse. Terribly sophisticated, how he threatens to return to Mammon if his love is denied. Reflecting a somewhat dark side of Richard, as if he refuses to ask permission of the gatekeeper when he trespasses an unseen line which would gain him full access to his love.
