No one in his small, impoverished town believes Rick when he announces that he heard a warning on his car radio. The townsfolk cling to the hope that Mors Mortis, the gang of violent vigilante vampire hunters who will kill or enslave anyone who crosses their path, has finally disbanded. He has as his companions Christiana, Robbie, and Billy. Rick falls for the lovely Christiana, while farm boy Robbie and former Mors Mortis mastermind Billy help them found a new town they call America.
All the while, Mors Mortis rampages across the countryside. An ancient order of vampires seeks to destroy the bloodsucking competition, but they need more human slaves as a ready food supply. Rick and Christine join the human resistance, but only Rick's memoir, uncovered many years later, will tell the true tale of their fate-and humanity's ultimate destiny.
