It covers the standard gauge main lines of the PLM, the metre gauge lines of the CFD Vivarais and Tramways de l'Ardèche, as well as a number of minor tramway schemes, and the never completed Transcévenole. In addition there are chapters on the railway town of Le Teil, the locomotives of the Ardèche, and the railway pioneer Marc Seguin.
