Publisher's Synopsis
How do you forgive the unforgivable? Amanda Mallory wakes up on the morning of her son, Robby's, execution unsure how to move forward with her life. For the last four years, she has been her son's only support, and now she has to live for herself, assuming she can remember how. As she packs up her life in South Dakota, where she has stayed to be close to Robby, she remembers the boy he was and the goodness he'd had. She still wonders how things could go so horribly wrong, and then finds a class ring she's never seen before. With so much of Robby's life having been dissected and offered up to the masses, she is determined to find out the story behind why Robby had this ring. In the process, she remembers what it is to interact with other people, and comes to realize that while Robby's choice took away so much from so many people, she can choose for herself now how she wants her future to unfold. Interspersed with Amanda's journey are chapters showing the different stages of grief, as experienced by a variety of other people who were also drastically affected by her son's choice.
