Publisher's Synopsis
Port Carling has fallen on hard times. Not only that but Port Carling High School hasn't won the state baseball championship since Randy the Slider Jackson pitched a perfect game way back when. The Slider went on to become a big-league, superstar pitcher and never looked back. When fourteen-year-old Andy, the Slider's nephew, moves to Port Carling, the town believes that their savior has arrived at last. Everyone expects that Andy, like his uncle, will pitch for Port Carling High, win the state championship, and bring the pride back to Port Carling. Suddenly, Andy has a choice to make: do what the world expects or chart his own destiny.
