Publisher's Synopsis
I wrote these stories and reflections a few months after my mom died. She left on July 23rd 2012, Here Now: Waking Up to My Life was born the following February while my family lived on the road in a 27ft RV, parked in the Arizona Desert. Most of the stories are not about her, and all of them are simple sketches, or what I now (in 2021) call rough drafts. My intention back then was to begin. That's all. Begin moving beyond writing practice, and allow my words to be bound and sold. You won't find polished prose, just sweet vignettes from one woman's life. If a relaxing zigzag walk down memory lane through someone else's life sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon, you are in the right place.
Following is the original description, left in place in case you want more details about what you'll find inside. "Within these pages you'll meet an old woman with the softest hands you've ever touched, be offered a window into a mother's heart, graze the edges of heaven, and be invited to slow down and consider the beautiful mystery we live moment to moment. In life, if we are to be true to our Maker, we must endeavor to reverence the soul by respecting our fellow travelers and their paths, which are each unique and personal, and to be patient with our own imperfect selves. Here Now: Waking Up to My Life is a collection of vignettes sharing pieces of my journey as I strive to reach this elusive goal."
