Publisher's Synopsis
The National Parks Air Tour Management Act of 2000 (NPATMA)1 calls for the regulation of commercial air tour operations over units of the National Park system, and directs the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), with the cooperation of the National Park Service (NPS), to develop Air Tour Management Plans (ATMPs) for all National Parks with commercial air tours*.Currently, approximately 85 parks will need ATMPs. The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) is providing technical support to the ATMP program. An important element of this support is the computer modeling of air tour aircraft, which will be used in the assessmentpotential noise impacts to the National Park resources.
