Publisher's Synopsis

Sandy Tabor is a young fellow working for his brother, Felix, on the ranch that Felix inherited from his father. Times are hard in Texas after the Civil War, and Sandy is working for two meals a day and a place to sleep in the barn. Wanda, Felix's wife, hates Sandy for some unknown reason. After overhearing the remarks that Wanda is making about him, Sandy packs up and tells his brother goodbye. He finds employment at Fort Concho in San Angela, Texas as a scout for the upcoming war to rid the state of the Indians. When Sandy receives word that his brother's cattle are being stolen, he returns to take care of the problem for him. Then Wanda runs off to find better pastures. Felix, alone and broken, ends up drunk and gambling his ranch away. Sandy returns again to help, but will he be able to save his brother and his ranch? When Sandy's service to the Army leads him to become head of the scouts, the one bright spot on the Texas Plains is Molly Simms, whose uncle is the Commanding Officer of Fort Concho. Where will Sandy's affections for Molly lead? What will become of the Tabor brothers?
