Publisher's Synopsis
If you ask Matthew Curry to describe himself, he'll tell you that he's not a very nice man, and that he'll never really change. His past holds all manner of pain, screw-ups and heartache that he'd like to forget. His lover has one toe in this reality, while the rest of her stays in that little world she inhabits whenever she becomes crazed and abusive, begging him to stay with her forever. His one friend is a chatterbox that he doesn't even like very much, and he spends his quiet time drinking heavily, to try and stay blitzed enough so as not to think about all the cruel things he does to earn himself a living. This is how it's been for years. As far as Matt figures, it's going to stay that way until he gets lucky and ends up dead in the streets of the decrepit city he calls home. But through a twist of fate, Matt meets a young girl with her own kind of pain, loss, and regret. Maybe he can help her, he figures. Maybe he can be more than just a lousy thug for once. Maybe things can change after all.
