Publisher's Synopsis
This book sets out to provide an overview of the approach in which China's top leaders are elected (to China's policy makers) or selected (to outside observers). In short, we use four simple terms to describe the whole process of the Chinese-style election: "Wo Wo Shou" (shake hand: prepare for the congress); "Pai Pai Shou" (clap hands: listen to the report); "Ju Ju Shou" (raise hand: what you do is always what we like); and "Hui Hui Shou" (wave hand: see you next time).
