Publisher's Synopsis
The high mountain adventures continue unabated in this tenth volume of the Mountain Man Series. In the late summer of 1840, Jeremiah Warner had completed his commission as part of the Fremont expedition exploring the Oregon Trail all the way to the far side of the Rocky Mountains. As the expedition wound down something tragic happened, an attack by a band of Crow warriors on the expedition. A dying warrior told the Mountain Man that his family had been killed by the Bear Clan, the fierce and determined warriors of the southern Crow nation who had been trying to kill Jeremiah for almost two years. This event in the Western region of the Rockies sent the Mountain Man on a furious ride eastward toward where his enemies lived. He was going on the word of a dying man, clearly one who was his enemy, and he couldn't trust that information, but it forced him to ride hell bent for leather back toward his family and toward the band of Blackfeet that he had adopted and had adopted him. This 10th volume of the Mountain Man Series chronicles the adventures of this man overcome by the rage and loss. The Crow nation was about to experience the great medicine of the man that they had come to call the Warlock.
