Bronwyn has heard whispers of an ancient family secret, and with her birthday-and inheritance-right around the corner, she's decided to find out exactly what it is. She heads to the centuries-old Oliphant family bookstore to do some research. When his uncle gets arrested, Auvek Oliphant is surprised to find himself the curator of the old family store, William Oliphant, bookseller. When Bronwyn offers to help him straighten things out, he agrees, in exchange for helping her looking into her own family secret, which is tied up in the old legend of the winking clock. Meanwhile, Pomegranate city is in chaos. The Administrative Chair has died under mysterious circumstances and the entire government is in turmoil.
