Publisher's Synopsis

When a young man returns to his home in Texas after the Civil War, he learns that he had been reported as having died in a Union prison. He also learns that his family has lost their farm to Carpetbaggers and an old acquaintance now owns the farm. To make matters worse, his fiance has been forced to go to work as a hostess in one of the towns more seedy saloons; something that sickens him. In an effort to get their farm back, as well as help others who are in the process of losing their farms and small ranches, the young man begins robbing those responsible for the take overs. Soon he is a wanted man and the closer he gets to exposing the truth about the men behind the take overs, the more dangerous it becomes for him. When he finds an ally in his efforts things start moving faster towards a climax that will leave the town filled with gunsmoke.
