Circumference of Me is the result of two lifetimes of work-one in mainly rural settings, the other in The No. 1 World City, New York. The diverse backgrounds of the authors solidified their belief that "management is management" regardless of setting, educational background, or number of co-workers. Great managers are in every profession, from the largest of companies, to the smallest of non-profit associations, from the smallest of school districts to metropolitan student-cities. The diverse paths taken that led to the writing of Circumference of Me emphasize the importance of business mentors and corporate devils, and the important lessons each handed down in the daily exercise of duties.
