'The Passing of the Essenes' is a drama in three acts that tells a biblical story of Jesus. George Augustus Moore was born in London, England in 1852. In early life he wanted to be a painter, and studied art in Paris during the 1870s. Moore published more than thirty works, including novels, short story anthologies, plays and collections of essays. He is now regarded as one of the first great modern Irish novelists, and an influence on authors such as James Joyce.
