Publisher's Synopsis

Eurythmics were the British music duo of Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart formed during 1980, in Wagga Wagga, Australia, having both previously been in the band The Tourists, first known as The Catch, which split up that same year. The duo released their first album, In the Garden, during 1981, which attracted little attention but went on to have global success with their second L.P. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), issued during 1983, the title track being a worldwide hit, topping the charts in several countries including the U.S. The duo went on to release a string of hit singles and albums before they split up in 1990, by which time Stewart was a sought-after record producer, while Lennox began a solo recording career during 1992 with her debut L.P. Diva. After almost a decade apart, Eurythmics reunited to record their 9th album, Peace, released during late 1999. They reunited again during 2005, issuing the single "I've Got a Life", as part of a new Eurythmics compilation L.P., Ultimate Collection. The duo won an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist during 1984, the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1987, and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music during 1999, then in 2005 were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. Eurythmics have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide, being nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame during 2017.
