Publisher's Synopsis
In recent years, "The Jefferson Bible" has become popular among readers who wish to consider the teachings of Jesus outside of His claims to be God. While many atheists and even some Christians see merit in such a study, others point with concern to the warning of Revelation 22:19: "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." Some Christians, while interested in the beliefs of the third U.S. president, are just as interested to know what the president left out of his Bible. It was curiosity in that topic which led to the development of this little book which we are calling "The Reverse Jefferson Bible." Rather than the chopped-up, re-arranged version of "The Jefferson Bible," this little book presents the four gospels, with Jefferson's extractions separated and italicized. While atheists and non-believers may wish to emphasize the teachings of Jesus outside of His divine power, people of faith stand to benefit by taking "The Reverse Jefferson Bible" from an entirely different angle. Specifically, many the passages Jefferson left out are those which can impart the most power and life to our spiritual walks. And so "The Reverse Jefferson Bible" is offered-for those who would like to allow interested readers the opportunity to see what Jefferson left out, as well as what he left in, within the setting of the four gospels.
