There have been times when Lara has regretted choosing what she came to think of ironically as her 'brilliant career', while at others she's felt very proud of what she's achieved. Has it all been worth it? Maybe it has, but sometimes, in the middle of yet another dark, lonely night in a bland hotel room, she can't help wondering... Deciding it's time to retire, Lara moves to a leisure village in Wiltshire, looking forward to the adventure that her new life will bring. But when long-standing arrangements crumble, her situation quickly becomes worrying. With her dreams in disarray, Lara makes friends with the other residents and finds herself entangled in the ups and downs, triumphs and tragedies of her new community, hoping against hope that her independence will one day be restored.
