Publisher's Synopsis

As a boy in Switzerland in the early 1800s, Victor Frankenstein witnesses lightning strike an oak tree and is inspired to become a scientist, harnessing the power of electricity to animate a creature made of assembled human body parts. Hoping his creation would be beautiful, Victor is horrified to discover that it is instead hideous, and he abandons it and flees. Rejected by both Victor and society, the creature vows revenge on his creator. Victor is relentlessly pursued by the creature - and in turns punished by the consequences of his own actions - until the culmination of the deadly chase in the frozen wastes of the North Pole.
