Publisher's Synopsis
"Kirikane" ("cut gold") is an ancient technique in which the artist uses a bamboo knife to cut out designs from sheets of gold leaf before affixing them with a mixture of hide and seaweed to a Buddhist artifact. Paperblanks Kirikane Metta journal is inspired by a mosaic pattern created by devoted kirikane revivalist Sayoko Eri (1945-2007), and reproduces her design using our unique printing process.
