Publisher's Synopsis

Bertha Muzzy Sinclair (1871-1940), best known by her pseudonym B M Bower, was an American author who wrote novels, short stories and screenplays about the American Old West. Her works featuring cowboys on the Flying U Ranch in Montana reflected the nation's interest in ranch life and westerns in general, and by the time of her death her books had sold more than 2 million copies. Both readers and reviewers frequently assumed that Bower was a man and it is said that her sales dropped off when it was revealed that she was in fact a woman. Several of her books were turned into films, with Chip of the Flying U being adapted four times, though each significantly altered Bower's narrative. This work was first published in 1923.
