Direct aid has once more been accorded me in most generous measure by the Keeper of Coins in the British Museum and his colleagues. In particular, Mr. Warwick Wroth and Mr. G. F. Hill were good enough to read the whole of the following pages in proof. Although the original coins were not before them, their wide and accurate knowledge of the subject enabled them to furnish much useful criticism.
