Bedenkt man andrerseits, dass die grosse Handelstadt Herma polis auf Syra den Import von ganz Griechenland und den meisten Punkten des ägfiscben Meeres Kreta nicht ausgenommen ganz allein deckt und versiebt; so wird man, den Export der Cykladen mit eingerechnet' gestehen müssen dass sie für die Krone Griechenland eine bedeutende Besitzung bilden, und die Vernachlässigung nicht verdienen, in welcher sie von Seite der Regierung unterworfen sind.
