Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Sermons, Preached on Different Occasions
HE Writer of the following Sermons felt no great inclination to appear in print. To fay that he is de?itute of vanity, would be to pretend, that he is better than other men are, and that he is much better than himfelf really is. But he can with truth declare, that the principal motive which in duced him to fend forth this publication, was a defire to gratify the Wilhes of a num her of his own_congregation, -for the mem bers of which, he hopes, he fhall ever enter tain the greate?; affection and regard. That the perufal of it may be conducive, through the Divine ble?ing, to their fnrther edifica dim and comfort, and to, the befi interefis of others, into whofe hands it may come, -is the defire of his heart, and his prayer to god.
