Die letztere Abhandlung ist ein erfreuliches Zeichen daf�r, dass es auch in England M�nner giebt, welche die Art, wie Jowett (vgl. Ber. XLII. S. 253 ti.) mit der aristotelischen Politik umgeht, mit Frei muth und gesundem Menschenverstand zu beurtheilen sich durch die ausserordentliche Auctorit�t dieses Mannes in seinem und ihrem Vater lande nicht abhalten lassen. Auffallend ist nur, dass ein so verst�ndig urtheilender Gelehrter wie Tyrrell, dennoch meint, es sei nicht n�thig II, 9. 1271 15. 7013705; mit Susemihl und Welldon in ro�rgu noch II, 11 1279 2. Rot); in ra�r' mit Welldon zu �ndern. Als ob es sich hierbei um ein Aendern handelte und nicht vielmehr um eine Wahl zwischen den Ueberlieferungen der beiden Handschriftenklassen 171 und H! Ist es denn eine so schwer begrei?iche Sache, dass wer die erstere Classe f�r die im Ganzen bessere h�lt, da, wo ihm die Lesarten beider gleich passend scheinen, wenn anders er. Methodisch und nicht willk�rlich ver fahren will, jener ersteren zu folgen hat! Dass in der Lesart ro�rozg dies als Masculinum zu verstehen sei und darin nicht der mindeste Anstoss liegt, ist ja wahrlich selbstverst�ndlich. I, 1. 1252 14 schreibt Tyrrell mit Unrecht a670g'12). II. 4. 1262 14 ist er nicht abgeneigt eig fur 7) zu vermuthen, doch sei vielleicht im Sinne von or at all events haltbar. Dabei bringt er seine fr�here Conjectur (hermath. IV. S. 39) VIII (v), 9. 1310 1. 50851100e; to�c vo'noug in Erinne rung, aber sie giebt meines Erachtens keinen brauchbaren, sondern das Ueberlieferte allein (siehe meine Uebersetzung) giebt den erforderlichen Sinn, und rar); vo'poug beruht nur auf werthlosen Quellen (l Ar. Richtig dagegen bemerkt er �ber 11, 8. 1268 9f. Tb; 00'm0 70070 7r0,0' df��ocg vero;ro�sr>yp�voy, wenn dies heissen sollte: als ware dies nicht schon bei andern Leuten gesetzlich eingef�hrt gewesen' so erwarte man pnjnw, allein eben so richtig hat Spengel andernfalls ro're nap' erwartet: die feinere Unterscheidung von 00 und 'mi ist bei Aristoteles, wie es scheint, schon im Schwinden begriffen; bis zu welchem Grade, ist freilich noch erst zu untersuchen.
