Die an der Spitze des Buches stehende Selbstbiographie war zu erst in einer ganzen Serie von Autobiographien in der Wochenschrift "die Gegenwart 1875 Nr. 1 - 3 veroffentlicht worden. Anstatt die ursprungliche Fassung derselben zu andern oder mit Nachtragen zu belasten, ziehe ich es vor, an dieser Stelle die Erganzung mitzu theilen, welche zuerst in der Monatsschrift "die Gesellschaft 1887 Nr. 6 erschienen ist.
