When Mr. Mozley wrote to tell Cardinal Newman that he was going to publish the Reminiscences, and that the Cardinal's name was naturally a constantly recurring one, his Eminence wrote back to his brother-in-law to express a hope that nothing would creep into the volume to wound the feelings _of any one, or to stir - what he above all things dreaded - controversy. But a glance at the subsequent proceedings, of which we are now celebrating the fortieth anniversary, may be taken.
