Although it is only recently that I have realized the fact, I know now that I have been made the storm-center, so to speak, around which this battle of men and spirits has been waged. In the Bible these con?icts are said to be between gods and men. This is wrong, because the gods are good spirits - and good spirits never engage in fights. Great wealth was shown me, in heaps of gold, and promised me if I would become their medium - that is, do their bidding. But I have always felt that I should degrade myself if I surrendered my personality to the dictation of any other person, spirit or god.
