This is still more the case when the object of investigation is to discover the relation of cause and effect between two sets of phenomena. F a causal nexus is to be established, the most satisfactory method-is that termed by logicians the method of concomitant variations which may be roughly summarised more or less of the cause, more or less of the effect. We can only determine this more or less by the aid of the statistical method.
