The excavations at High Rochester, it will be remembered, of which a full Report and Ground-plan is here given by Dr. Bruce, were made by the direction of the Duke of Northumberland, and at his expense, shortly previous to the Meeting of the Institute, with the special intention of augmenting the interest of the Pro ceedings on that occasion, and inviting the attention of Antiquaries.
