Thus to the Greek version of the Hebrew scriptures, already enlarged by the Apocrypha, and in this form called by the Christians the Old Testament, there was added a correspond ing series of Christian scriptures in Greek, known as the New Testament. The double series was called The little books, in Greek, Biblia; and this word has given us by a slight alteration our familiar title, Bible.
