IT was bright morning when Freddy awoke again. Birds were singing around him; the dewdrops on the grass were sparkling like dia monds in the early sunbeams; the little perk ing squirrels were darting from one tree to another, now running along the branches, now just shewing their noses from the fork of a bough; and at various parts Of the woodland, tall, undisturbed columns of smoke were rising above the foliage from the cottages. All the horrid creatures that had surrounded him in the gloomy night resumed their natural forms.
