Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Organizational Socialization in the Early Career of Industrial Managers
If we maintain the perspective of the organization or society, we can see that the need to convert members (citizens) to a new ideology and to root out resistance or sabotage is a problem which many organizations face, notably prisons, hospitals, rehabilitative institutions, and to some degree, industrial organizations. Particularly with respect to new members coming into the organization, it is essential that they be taught the organization goals, values, and preferred ways of dealing with problems. New members must also be taught to be loyal and productive, which is tantamount to saying that they must accept the ideology, participate actively.
