Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Boys' Book of Railroads
One of the pleasures of writing this book has been the association I have had with scores of railroad men in various positions, from superin tendent of a division and chief dispatcher down to the humble job of track walker. I want to make this an opportunity to express my ap preciation to all of them for the assistance that they have given me in assembling many of the facts herein set forth. I am especially grateful for the interest and kindness of Mr. J. M. Condon, Superintendent of the New York Division of the Erie Railroad, Mr. Thomas J. Kelly, Chief Dispatcher of the same Division, Mr. J. E. Ingling, Superintendent cf Freight Service of the same road, and William Francis Hooker, also of the Erie Company and a genuine Old Timer.
