Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Lord Mayor of London, Vol. 1 of 2: Or, City Life in the Last Century
The principal character in my Tale, it is almost needless to observe, is imaginary. Sir Gresham Lorimer is simply, as I have intimated, my idea of a worthy Lord Mayor. If any points of resemblance should be discovered between him and your lordship, they are accidental; though I may have been unconsciously in?uenced in the portraiture by the living model.
