The seed-coat was white. 4. The pods were plain. The pods were constricted. 5. The unripe pods were green. The unripe pods were yellow. 6. The ?owers were axial. The ?owers were terminal. 7. The stems were 6 to 7 ft. Long. The stems were 2 to 11} ft. Long.
This treatment was continued till the end of the experiments.

The two members of each of these seven pairs were then crossed with each other reciprocal crosses being made in all cases. That is to say: plants having round seeds were crossed with others having wrinkled, some times the one kind being the male parent, sometimes the other and so on for the remaining pairs.
