The generous reception accorded to my book by public and critics, and the demand still existing for it, are the reasons for this second edition. It has been carefully revised and somewhat enlarged. Heed has been given to the suggestions made by the critics with regard to some of the translations in the first edition. These have, when possible, been altered, and, I trust, improved.
