Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Revolutionary Times: Sketches of Our Country, Its People, and Their Ways, One Hundred Years Ago
To sketch the being and doing of a considerable people, occupying an extended territory, at a momentous period, and all within the compass of two hundred pages, is an undertaking of which too much will not be expected by the considerate reader. Such a sketch must necessarily confine itself to the surface of things, and then can only touch upon a few points that are prominent. For further particulars, inquiry must be made of other works, whose scope is broader and purpose deeper, a partial enumeration of which will be found at the end of the volume. I have here but filled a note-book with rough and scattered memoranda.
